Introduction!

Hey there!

My name is Abbey and I am a uni student at the Australian Catholic University, currently studying Primary teaching. I am loving my course so far and can’t wait to get started! However, as all good things require, I must be patient- this is only my first year!

As part of my studies, I am required to create a blog reflecting on a series of important ‘driving questions’ that we have discussed in my COMM140 class—–and this is it, so Welcome! Here you will find my commentary on questions such as “Do digital natives exist?  , “To tweet or not to tweet? and much more!

Speaking of Twitter, here is a handy dandy little link to my Twitter profile which i have also created as a profile for this class. Check it out! (or don’t, no pressure!) https://twitter.com/AbbeyOshannessy

If you’ve read this far ahead and you’re interested in reading more, here is a little bit about me!

  • I’m a major bookworm and love any excuse to curl up with a good book and a hot chocolate (i dislike coffee as it tastes too much like adulthood and responsibilities-YUCK!).
  • I’m a bit of a theatre geek! I love being on stage and performing! I was involved in every school play my high school had to offer and I still love watching productions, whether they be school plays or large-scale productions!
  • I’ve danced for 13 years (although I’m still not very good at it). I love a bit of a boogie and a groove so if there’s a dance floor, you can bet I’ll be on it.

Why must I do this you ask? Let’s ask Mark Prensky!

With technology, the world around us is developing so so quickly that it’s no surprise that the teaching methods of the past, are no longer fit to teach the children of the future. As an aspiring teacher, I have a role in ensuring that when I am teaching in the classroom, I teach in a manner that speaks the language of my students.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Stay tuned for more exciting posts and driving questions to come!
